It is built to replace an old wooden bridge on the same site. The newly completed bridge spans from Heishantou of Hulun Buir League to Starotsurukhaytuy in Russia, according to Guo Ziming, vice chairman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The jointly invested new bridge broke ground for construction last June.

Local officials said the new bridge would create favorable conditions for advancing border trade and tourism.
