President Hu Jintao and visiting Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov on Friday reaffirmed their commitment to the goal of a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and solving the issue through peaceful negotiation.

During their meeting in Beijing, the two leaders urged all relevant parties to create favourable conditions for the early resumption of the Six-Party Talks.

The two leaders also discussed the Iran nuclear issue, vowing to maintain the international nuclear non-proliferation regime to avoid new turbulence in the Middle East.

They said the two countries would continue their political and diplomatic efforts to push forward a peaceful solution to the Iran nuclear issue through dialogues.

Fradkov, who concluded his two-day visit on Friday, was in Beijing to attend the 11th regular meeting between heads of the two governments and the closing ceremony of the "Year of Russia" in China. Fradkov and Premier Wen Jiabao jointly opened the Russian National Exhibition on Friday morning.
