China Vanke Co Ltd and Evergrande Real Estate led in property sales in the first half of 2010, according to a report released by China Real Estate Information Corporation and China Real Estate Appraisal, the Securities Journal reported Friday.

The report said that a total of 11 property developers saw their sales topping 10 billion yuan in the first half of this year, and Vanke took the crown, with 35.5 billion yuan ($5.23 billion), followed by Evergrande’s 21.1 billion yuan.

Judging from sold-floor space, Evergrande outnumbered its competitors by selling 3.32 million square meters. Vanke ranked second, with 2.94 million square meters.

Property sales in general dropped compared with the second half of 2009, due to China's tightening controls on the real estate sector.

However, most property developers still saw their results up compared with the same period last year, said the report.
