Chinese mainland companies invest $174.6 million in Taiwan

TAIPEI - Companies from the Chinese mainland have invested $174.6 million into about 200 projects in Taiwan since the island allowed mainland investments on June 30, 2009, Taiwan's economic department said Tuesday.
The department said in a report that mainland investors pumped $42.79 million into the island from January to November this year, down 54.45 percent year-on-year. During the 11 months, the number of new mainland projects in Taiwan reached 98, up 28.9 percent year-on-year, it said.
Meanwhile, Taiwanese companies invested in 530 projects on the mainland in the same 11-month period, up 30.54 percent year-on-year. The value of these investments reached $12.41 billion, up 2 percent year-on-year, it said.
