Huawei Technologies Co said it has started shipping US component-free base station modems to the world, marking the Chinese tech company's latest push to maintain normal supply to its customers despite the US government restrictions it faces.

The announcement came as Huawei announced that it posted 610.8 billion yuan ($86 billion) in revenue in the first three-quarters of this year, up 24.4 percent year-on-year.

Yang Chaobin, president of Huawei's 5G product, said that the company has so far shipped more than 400,000 units of 5G active antenna, a type of modem for 5G base stations.

About 300,000 units were shipped after the US government banned Huawei from buying US technologies without special government approval in May.

"Some of these modems don't include US components, and their performance is as good as those that include US components, " Yang said.
