US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States welcomes a strong, prosperous and successful China. Clinton said the United States is committed to pursuing a positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship with China.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton paid a visit to 2010 Shanghai Expo site, when she appealed for sponsorship for the US pavilion. "I know there are some audience still contemplating sponsorship and maybe in negotiation with the US pavilion team," she said. "Now it's the time to join this effort. We want to assemble the strongest team of partners possible."

Gary Locke said China and the United States should reduce trade and investment barriers to create jobs, striking a broadly cooperative tone in his first official public address since assuming the position a month earlier.

Locke said the Obama administration was moving to ease restrictions on exports of high-technology goods to China. Locke was leading a delegation of executives from 24 US companies on a clean energy trade mission that began in Hong Kong.
