MANILA, Philippines - China's Liang Wenchong beat Thailand's Prom Meesawat in a playoff to win the inaugural Manila Masters on Sunday, in an event which proceeded despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis in neighboring areas of the Philippines from Typhoon Haiyan.

Prom had the clubhouse lead after shooting a final-round 65 but Liang sank a birdie on the 18th hole to draw level at 16-under 272.

On the playoff hole, Prom found a bunker while Liang had a tap-in birdie to clinch the win.

Canada's Richard Lee had a final-round 64 to finish in a tie for third with Spain Carlos Pigem, while 17-year-old Thai Jazz Janewattananond, who led the first two rounds, closed with a 69 to be among four players with a share of fifth place.
