Chongqing-based carmaker Seres and China's technology giant Huawei started deliveries on Wednesday of the AITO M7 SUV, the latest product of their cooperation.

This is the second model co-developed by the two partners following the smaller AITO M5 unveiled in late 2021.

The AITO M7 is a range-extended model. It has a range up to 1,220 km and can run on the electric mode for 230 km.

The six-seat model features Huawei's Harmony operating system and is capable of updates over the air, said Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's intelligent automotive solution business unit.

AITO has built a network of 700 experience centers and user centers in 171 cities across the country. The figure is expected to rise to 1,200 by the end of this year.

Zhang Xinghai, chairman of Seres' parent Sokon Group, said the partnership has allowed the two companies to bring into full play their respective strength.

He made the remarks when the two unveiled the AITO M7 in July.

"Huawei is leading in smart technology and Seres has over two years of experience in car manufacturing," he said.

"Our cooperation has been very efficient and we will roll out more models," said Zhang.

Sokon has been shifting towards electrification. The company sold 45,622 new energy vehicles in the first six months this year, up 204.5 percent from the same period last year.
