Updated: 2019-08-21

Xinhua

Chongqing University Cancer Hospital (CUCH) and Russia's National Medical Research Radiological Center signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in tumor radiotherapy at a conference, the event organizer said Monday.

According to the memorandum, the two sides will share a platform for scientific research experiments and resources, and work together in the construction of telemedicine technologies.

The two sides signed the memorandum at the ongoing 2019 Chinese Conference on Oncology, held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from Aug 16 to 19.

Wu Yongzhong, director of the CUCH, said the two sides will further discuss the establishment of a cooperation mechanism in tumour radiotherapy, and promote the combination of basic research and clinical research.

The two sides will also carry out cooperation in fields including tumor radiotherapy equipment, radiotherapy design and verification, and quality assurance in radiotherapy.

"The signing of the MOU aims to give full play to the advantages of both sides in medical research and teaching in the field of tumour radiotherapy. There is a long way to go in the fight against cancer, and such exchanges and cooperation are necessary and will benefit more patients," Wu said.

Organized by the China Anti-Cancer Association, CUCH and Chongqing Anti-Cancer Association, more than 1,900 oncologists from home and abroad, and more than 30,000 personnel in the field attended the conference.
