Pinjun Express Co, run as part of its VIPSHOP delivery business, signed a contract with Liangjiang New Area government to establish its headquarters in the first inland economic development zone on Nov 9.

The company will play an important role in building Liangjiang New Area into an international logistics corridor and modern service industry base. It is also part of Liangjiang New Area’s efforts to develop itself as a base for companies’ headquarters.

VIPSHOP, a Chinese online shopping website specializing in discounted brands, is wholly owned by Guangzhou VIPSHOP Information and Technology Co. The company has based its domestic e-commerce regional settlement center and southwest cross-board e-commerce operations center in Liangjiang New Area since 2013.

Tang Yizhi, the company’s senior vice president, expressed great hopes for the company’s future development.

“Hopefully Pinjun Express being based in this dynamic area, will accelerate the company’s development,” said Tang.

VIPSHOP aims to become a global first-class e-commerce company, and as an important part of its efforts, Pinjun Express already provides logistics services for 80 percent of VIPSHOP’s orders with its distribution area covering over 30 provinces in China. Pinjun Express has more than 2,000 distribution branches across the country and employs some 20,000 people.

Liangjiang New Area is located at the junction of one of the initiative’s proposed trade routes and the Yangtze River economic belt. When the initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013 is implemented, the area should stand to gain from increased trade and investment.
