Chongqing is to hold a series of activities in September to attract millions of dollars to the region.

Activities will include a cultural industry expo, an animation festival and a meeting of worldwide tourist industry representatives. Apparently there are some pleasant surprises in store for the audiences in the Chongqing International Expo Center.

Thirteen cultural performances to help Chongqing’s Yubei District build a high-end entertainment industry will have been held in the expo center by the end of this year.

The center’s central hall is a standard large concert hall which can accommodate over 10,000 people. It has satisfied the need of a professional indoor concert venue in southwest China.

The central hall occupies an area of 20,000 square meters and has 15,000 seats. It has held many sports events and large meetings. The center’s authority said exhibitions can help develop other industries including accommodation, catering, tourism, shopping and advertising. A million dollars’ outcome by an exhibition held in the center can create revenue of millions of dollars for the region’s other industries.

The Strawberry Music Festival, famous in China since 2009, debuted for the first time in Chongqing’s central park in 2015. It was the largest and most influential music carnival ever held in the district.

By 2020, the district’s entertainment industry anticipates having generated one billion yuan ($15 million) and to have helped other industries create revenue of over 10 billion yuan ($150 million).
