A group of journalists from Japan, Korea and Germany visited the Liangjiang New Area designated for inland reform on April 19, liangjiang.gov.cn reported.

Under the guidance of the consulate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation visited the Liangjiang New Area Planning Exhibition Hall, the Chongqing Bonded Tariff Exhibition and Exchange Center, the Jiangbeizui Financial Central Business District and the Orchard Port.

Journalists learned about the strategic position of Liangjiang New Area, its location advantages, and its industrial layout.

Liangjiang’s function as a transportation hub linking inland China and overseas destinations was a highlight to the journalists.

The journalists visited shopping centers featuring Japanese, Korean and German products.

Zao Bohong, director of the Japanese products mall, noted that all the products are directly imported from Japanese merchants and thus have low prices. She hoped more Japanese businesses will get to know and cooperate with the Liangjiang Tariff Bonded Goods Exhibition.

Jiangbeizui is often compared to the Lujiazui Financial Center in Shanghai. It occupies an area of approximately five square kilometers and has entered a new development phase in the last 10 years. Major projects such as the Chongqing Grand Theatre and Central Park have been finished there.

Orchard Port is the largest inland port in China. Journalists were very interested in it and raised questions ranging from its operations to multi-mode transport.

A Korean journalist noted that she was impressed with the rapid development of this inland Chinese city.

Liangjiang New Area was their first stop in Chongqing. They will also visit Luohuang Port, Union Village to learn about China’s Belt and Road Initiative, its Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy and the economic development of west and central China.
