Zhou Qiang, President of China’s top court, met with the visiting chairman of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, Kairat Mami, on April 11 in Beijing.

Zhou said that the supreme courts of the two countries have a close relationship and that the visit will deepen their cooperation and opens a new judicial chapter between them.

“Deepening reform in the judicial system has been quite profound for the courts here in China,” Zhou said, adding that the performance and efficiency of courts have improved and judicial credibility has strengthened.

China is building a fair, highly-efficient and authoritative socialist judicial system, Zhou added.

With advanced information technology, China is working on a network of “smart courts” at various levels -- a court information system which by the end of 2017 will be wide-covering, transparent, safe and highly efficient.

Zhou said that the cooperation between the top courts of both countries - including judge training and study of judicial cases and legal reform - should be deepened.

Kairat Mami echoed Zhou as he introduced Kazakhstan’s legal reforms and expressed his wishes for closer cooperation between the courts of the two countries.

The two leaders also visited the China Court Museum.
