A cast of performers from the Shanxi Drama Academy took four operas to rural parts of the city of Datong, Shanxi province, on Nov 17, as part of a public welfare series the the province decided to provide, involving scenes from traditional operas.

The two-day event, in Lingqiu county, near Datong, was meant to promote better cultural products for local audiences in various ways, such as live performances for local enterprises, schools, and other institutions, or public performances on festive occasions, or by hosting cultural exchange fairs with other regions.
