During the recent years, the Yungang Grottoes of Datong, Shanxi province, have been working hard to develop digital and internet information technology, and to build a digital scenic spot, promoting the digital construction of Yungang Grottoes.

Tourists can log on to the website of the Yungang Grottoes Museum (baike.baidu.com/museum/yungang), to clearly enjoy the grand and magnificent grottoes, and beautiful Buddha. Visitors can not only select the viewing order, but also control the frame size and adjust the viewing angles, to get a comprehensive view of the Buddha figures. The museum is an important achievement of the Yungang Grottoes Research Institute in building such a digital scenic spot.

The Yungang Grottoes Research Institute has worked tirelessly at creating a digital Yungang Grottoes. It established the Yungang Digital Center, and through the long-term cooperation of many colleges and research institutes, it gradually aquired advanced science and technology, which was helpful to research the precious history and current information on the cultural relics in the Grottoes. At present, the Yungang Grottoes have made great progress in establishing, displaying, studying, protecting, and managing the digital profiles, ranking in the forefront of the country’s top cultural relics protection units.
