The official launching ceremony of Jinhuagong National Mining Park in Shanxi province was held on Sept 7 by the Datong Coal Group.

Jinhuagong National Mining Park is one of the first 28 national mining parks in China. It occupies 360,000 square meters and has 463 million yuan ($73.15 million) in investment. As a coal-themed park, Jinhuagong National Mining Park has seven landscape zones, including a coal museum, industrial sites, a stone village and shanty town relics.

The Datong coal museum is a symbol of the park. Visitors can learn about the formation, mining and utilization of coal as well as coal culture and the history of Datong coal in the museum's five sections.

Across the river from the mining park are the Yungang Grottoes. The park's establishment has created a landscape combining coal culture with Buddhist culture in Datong.
