The first International Frescos Biennial and an art exhibition honoring outstanding graduates who have been awarded the Zeng Zhushao Sculpture Art Scholarship will be held in Datong from Sept 26, 2012 to Feb 28, 2013.

The sponsors of the first International Frescos Biennial include the Chinese Artists Association, Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) and Datong municipal government. The event is expected to be the largest international biennial frescos exhibition in China.

There will be 500 works shown at the exhibition, including murals of Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple in Datong and copies of frescos at the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Xinjiang Kizil Grottoes and Gansu Maijishan Grottoes.
