Robin Li, Chairman of China's search engine Baidu

Robin Li was born on Nov 17, 1968 in the city of Yangquan in Shanxi province. He is the co-founder, chairman and CEO of China's most popular search engine, Baidu. He is in charge of strategic plans for the company and is responsible for its operation management.

Before founding Baidu, Li had already become one of the top search engine engineers in the world. He developed the Rankdex site-scoring algorithm for search engine page ranking, which was awarded a US patent and served as a crucial innovation for modern search engine development. He later utilized this technology in Baidu, one of the largest search engines worldwide.

The success of Baidu makes China one of four countries with core search engine technology, outside of the USA, Russia and South Korea.

Li has been awarded as "CCTV 2005 Chinese Economic Figures of The Year", world's "Best Business Leader" from American Business Weekly, and has been on Forbes magazine's list of the world's most powerful people several times.
