With the arrival of World Reading Day on April 23, Wuxi's Binhu district unveiled a plan to hold a series of reading events across the district throughout 2020.

The events include reading exchanges, classic book recitals, and essay contests for students, families, and office workers. Most of them will be held at schools, libraries, and cultural service centers in the district.

Event organizers said in an initiative that they welcome anyone who wants to participate in the activities and hope that they will encourage more residents to read more. The organizers include Binhu's publicity department, civilization office, culture and tourism bureau, and office for nationwide reading projects, as well as the Binhu Library and Wuxi NetEase.

The publicity department of Binhu will post information about ten attractive reading rooms throughout the district, present original poetry works and recordings of recitals from local residents, and call for book recommendation online.

Ni Shouhong, head of the publicity department, attended an online launch ceremony for the events on April 23 and encouraged locals to read more.
