The K625 train from Yichang in Hubei province to Xi’an, Shaanxi province, will change its travel route on Dec 28 and will include stops in Shiyan city and Wudang Mountains, wudang.gov.cn reported.

The local railway department said that the planned route, which will directly connect Yichang city to Shiyan and Wudang Mountains, will benefit the development of tourism in the area.

The K625 will set off from Yichang East Railway Station at 18:50, arriving at Gucheng Station at 23:10, Wudangshan Station at 0:18, and Shiyan Railway Station at 0:48.

The train will reach the terminal Xi’an Railway Station at 7:23 am, and the whole trip will take 12 hours and 33 minutes, nearly three hours less than the current route.

Officials said that they operated a Yichang-Xi’an train via Shiyan during the Spring Festival Golden Week several years ago, but the cost was one of the reasons that it was only in operation a limited number of times.
