Wuhan to host int’l exchange activity on livable cities

The Wuhan Municipal People's Government announced at a press conference on Nov 11 that the city will hold an international exchange activity, with a theme concerning the creation of an ecological and livable city, from Nov 20 to Dec 6. This will be the first time for Wuhan to host such an event.

The activity will consist of a Wuhan International Sister Cities Summit, the 2nd World Emerging Industry Conference and the 8th session of the International Advisory Council of Wuhan Municipal People's Government.

Shao Weimin, vice-mayor of Wuhan, said that the organizing committee of the International Sister Cities Summit has invited representatives from 31 cities of 23 countries and regions, including the mayors of the US city of San Francisco and Manchester in the UK.

Li Mengxian, the first Chinese American mayor of San Francisco, and Liu Taige, who is sometimes referred to as the “father of planning in Singapore", will address participants at the meeting. Also during the event, Wuhan is expected to sign annual exchange cooperation agreements with sister cities in South Korea and Japan.

In addition, the 2nd session of the World Emerging Industry Conference is set to include special forums on the energy saving and environmental protection industries, the digital service industry, industrial biotechnology and intelligent manufacturing.
