Guizhou's digital economy growth rate ranks first in China

The growth rate of the digital economy in Southwest China's Guizhou province has ranked first in China for six years in a row, according to the fifth plenary of the 13th Guizhou Provincial People's Congress held on Jan 20.

In 2022, Guizhou's digital economy is expected to account for about 36 percent of the province's GDP.

Last year, Guizhou accelerated digital industrialization and industrial digitalization, and helped companies integrate with big data. In 2021, the growth rate of Guizhou's software business revenue ranked first in China.

This year, Guizhou will speed up its development into a national big data comprehensive pilot area, accelerate the construction of the Guiyang Big Data Sci-tech Innovation City, build digital industry and talent clusters, create application scenarios of digital technologies, and establish exhibition areas for ecological civilization.

It will also accelerate the development of data centers, intelligent terminals and data application clusters, and its software business revenue is expected to increase by more than 25 percent year-on-year in 2022.

In addition, it will accelerate the construction and application of industrial internet platforms, help more than 2,000 companies realize in-depth integration with big data, and improve its digital governance capabilities.

Lastly, it will carry out a number of major construction projects involving big data and electronic information, help companies realize intellectualization and digitalization, invest 320 billion yuan ($50.46 billion) in new industrialization, promote the construction of new infrastructure, build data centers for JD and the China Southern Power Grid, and build 25,000 new 5G base stations in 2022.
