Guiyang showcases ASEAN cold-chain distribution center

Updated: 2020-11-12

Guiyang commerce bureau hosted a product promotion and business cooperation meeting on an ASEAN cold-chain distribution center in Guiyang on Nov 11.

Representatives of nearly 20 major supermarkets and catering companies in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, visited the Yunshang Fangzhou G7 Bonded Plaza and the Pubu operation department of the ASEAN Cold Chain (Guiyang) Distribution Center to learn about the center's operations.

The person in charge of Guizhou Qianguisheng Trading Co, the distribution center operator, introduced the company and business in detail.

The Guiyang cold-chain distribution center opened on Aug 17 this year. It is a temperature-controlled supply chain trade platform built by Guizhou Commercial Storage and Transportation Group and Fangchenggang Xindi Co. The facility was announced after the country proposed the New International Land-Sea Corridor strategy.

It transports seafood, fruits and specialty commodities from ASEAN countries and the Beibu Gulf region to Southwest China's Guizhou province on a special railway cold-chain train.

The center's establishment has formed an international logistics channel connecting the ASEAN market to Southwest China's Guiyang, Chongqing and Dazhou cities through Fangchenggang city in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, which is on the border of China and Southeast Asia.

Seafood imported from ASEAN nations has been introduced into the market since the center's opening, despite the global impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic. More than 5,000 pieces of frozen seafood products were sold through the distribution center, and various products weighing 720 metric tons were purchased.

It is expected to achieve annual sales of 10 million yuan ($1.43 million) in 2020.
