Also the secretary of the Party branch in Datun village, Shiqian county in Guizhou, Zhou takes his pride in the village's tea leaves. In June 2018, some tea gardens in his village began to connect to an original tracking system, which helped farmers monitor the water, maturity, air, humidity, and temperature through their mobile phones.

"The system is not only a marketing strategy but marks the transformation of our ideas on growing methods," Zhou said. He also disclosed that this year, he will link all the tea gardens in Datun to the big data system.

Statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture show that tea leaves produced in Guizhou have received 100 percent acceptability for six consecutive years, 1.1 percentage points higher than the national average.
