Wen Zhengyou, the Party secretary of Haique village, Hezheng township, Hezhang county, Bijie city, Guizhou province, and also a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), has visited many developed and underdeveloped villages over the past year.

Wen, who will travel to Beijing for the two sessions in early March, offered his thoughts on the national rural revitalization strategy.

"Transportation infrastructure, industrial development, and personnel support are very important for rural revitalization," he said, "If village roads are not well-constructed, the rural environment cannot be improved and the rural landscape cannot be changed."

Over the past year, Wen has been applying his theories on rural revitalization to the development of Haique village.

About 500 mu (33.3 hectares) of apple orchards are now filled with fruit. A total of 100 greenhouses filled with edible mushrooms were completed and put into production. The village's 10,000-acre sea of flowers is ready to bloom, and the training center successfully held two training sessions.

"Last year, our per capita income surpassed 10,000 yuan ($1,500), reaching 10,611 yuan," Wen said proudly.

From just 31 yuan per capita 31 years ago to over 10,000 yuan per capita today, Haique village is clearly on the road to rural rejuvenation.

Wen said that villagers are very grateful and full of hope for the revitalization of their village. He promised to bring their voices to the upcoming second session of the 13th National People's Congress.
