Huaxi University Town attractive to businesses

Huaxi University Town in Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has committed to 19 projects costing a total of 1.976 billion yuan ($290 million) in the first half of 2018.

Boasting local universities and big data companies, the town was built by the local government to train talents and develop the big data industry in Guizhou.

In the first half of 2018, the town's fixed-asset investments amounted to 3.752 billion yuan, and its tax revenue reached 180 million yuan, with 1,500 new jobs created.

During this period, the university town has made unremitted efforts to promote its development and attract new businesses.

To boost its economic development, the university town has been striving to attract growing enterprises, technology-oriented enterprises, and foreign trade enterprises based in large and key places in China, such as Beijing, Shenzhen, and Chongqing.

To improve its services, the university town has been committed to integrating industrial development with research by introducing a number of training institutions and offering big data training to over 300 people.

During a job fair in spring, 310 Gui'an-based enterprises offered over 4,300 jobs and more than 2,300 graduates found employment, bringing 726 teachers and students to the area.

To date, the university town has provided over 14 million yuan in subsidies to promote innovation and entrepreneurship and offered 29.9 million yuan in loans to 2,375 university students to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

The town has so far signed 150 projects, costing a total of 76.426 billion yuan. A total of 96 startups have been established in the town, among which 30 have received governmental support, receiving over 4.02 million yuan in subsidies.

The number of registered enterprises in the area currently sits at 2,591 (300 of which were started by university students), providing a total of 12,000 jobs. The university town also held over 30 forums to provide a platform for exchanges in innovation and entrepreneurship.

With the goal of increasing tax revenue and investment in fixed assets, as well as creating new jobs, the town will continue to develop and attract new businesses, helping enterprises find their target consumers and talents, and improving services to build a better business environment.

Striving to become a new-type modern town and focusing on promoting cultural and innovative industries, the town will modernize its urban governance system through the use of big data. Greening work will also be promoted to provide a better living environment for citizens.
