Guizhou's time-honored factory selected to national protection list

The historic site of the Aero Engine Corporation at Yangchang town in Dafang county of Bijie city, Southwest China's Guizhou province has been listed in the first group of Chinese Industrial Heritage Sites.

Established in 1939, the site was the first aero engine factory in China, and developed the country's first aero engines. Remaining today are the main plant, the casting and metal processing workshops and the subsidiary rooms.

Due to the Japanese aggression in China at that time, the location planned for the factory was changed from Kunming, capital of Yunnan province to Guizhou, which was remote and under-protected by the Chinese Liberation Army.

The list, which includes 100 industrial sites across China, was compiled by the China Association for Science and Technology's investigation and publicity department, the National Academy of Innovation Strategy and the China Association of City Planning.
