A troupe from Southwest China's Guizhou province presented a gala on Nov 20 in Sao Paulo, Brazil showcasing the province's ethnic culture.
More than 500 officials from Guizhou and the Brazilian government as well as overseas Chinese attended the fascinating performance, which included traditional ethnic songs and dances and exciting acrobatics. Brazilian troupes also gave vocal performances and even incorporated kung fu to show their welcome to the Chinese delegation.
Fu Changhua, Chinese vice consul-general in Sao Paulo, said that the show promoted cultural exchanges and strengthened the mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and Brazilian people.
The gala also served as a bridge to connect the overseas Chinese with their places of origin. "The splendid performance reminds us of the beautiful scenery and rich culture of our hometowns," said Zhong Wei, president of the Brazil Guizhou General Chamber of Commerce.
