Scientific research to explore Guizhou

The Third Transboundary Research of Beautiful China, a large-scale ecological protection activity, was held in Jiangkou county of Guizhou province on Sept 21.

The activity was launched by UNESCO's Chinese National Committee on Man and Biosphere, the China Wildlife Conservation Association, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Beijing Forestry University and other organizations focusing on ecological protection.

Han Qunli, former general secretary of UNESCO's Programme on Man and Biosphere, attended the activity and spoke highly of Guizhou's development. "The people and government in Guizhou are actively exploring new concepts and models," said Han.

With natural reserves such as Mount Fanjing in Guizhou as the target research sites, the activity will describe and present Guizhou's resources of ecology, nature, culture and tourism.

In recent years, Jiangkou county has been striving to develop tourism, agriculture and other relevant industries and has made great achievements. In 2016, the county received 6.6 million tourists, reaping tourism income of 6.36 billion yuan ($953,240,000), an increase of 31.08 percent compared to six years before.
