Thanks to provincial green development policies, the lush forests of Chishui, Guizhou province, form a delightful contrast with its unique Danxia landform, the largest and most spectacular Danxia landform in China.

Danxia landform is a special red rocky landscape found in southern China. In ancient times, thick red strata were deposited beneath the surface of rocks. After years of weathering and water erosion, the rocks have been cut into red valleys, isolated mountains and steep odd rocks.

The well-renowned Zhuhai National Forest Park, approved by the Ministry of Forestry in 1993, boasts Danxia cliffs, picturesque rocks, waterfalls, wetlands and other natural beauty.

The Yanziyan National Forest Park is similar, with a large area of ancient vegetation and a variety of rare and endangered plants and animals. The forest coverage is 95.3 percent.

According to the Guizhou Provincial Department of Forestry, the southwestern province has built 94 forest parks, including 26 national level forest parks, one national ecological park and one national flower park.
