Southwest China’s Guizhou province has launched a campaign aimed at helping disadvantaged groups find work more easily, Guiyang Daily reported on Feb 8.

The “Spring Wind Action” campaign kicked off in many cities and prefectures across Guizhou in the form of job fairs on Thursday, and will last throughout the year.

In the provincial capital Guiyang, more than 20 job fairs will be held in February alone, with some 300 companies putting 10,000 jobs on offer.

The campaign targets rural laborers, migrant workers, and family members of stay-at-home children. Employment services available include recruitment, legal aid, and pre-job training.

Guizhou has long remained one of China’s poorest provinces. There were 4.9 million people living below the poverty line by the end of 2015, accounting for 8.8 percent of the country’s total.

Guizhou authorities have set a goal of pulling all residents out of poverty by 2020.
