Dongjing is a fishing village home to the Bouyei ethnic group in Zhenfeng county of the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.

Wooden Bouyei-style houses are built along Beipan River in the shadow of mountains, creating a picturesque view.

Taking a boat upstream, one will arrive at the scenic spot of Beipan River Valley where peaks, caves, bizarre rocks, forests and relics from ancient times dominate the landscape.

Just ten years ago, Dongjing was hidden to outsiders, but now it’s an attractive destination for visitors.

The village drew nationwide attention when Dongjing Power Station was built in 2006. Beipan River was temporarily dammed to build a reservoir and reduce its ferociousness.

The village grasped the chance and developed characteristic agriculture and rural tourism by opening country inns and beautifying idyllic sceneries. Now, the villagers are living a much better off life thanks to extra income from tourism.
