The museum, covering 1,600 square meters, accommodates more than 300 exquisite costumes, 20,000 embroidered decorations and 100 swaddling braces, or “beishan” in Chinese, which is a kind of sling used by young women in Guizhou to carry their babies on their back.

The exhibits at the museum demonstrate the history, traditions and daily life of more than 15 ethnic groups, including Miao, Yao and Yi. Guizhou is one of China’s most demographically diverse provinces and the museum is one of Guizhou's largest specializing in folk culture.
