Zhan Yimin, one of the cyclists who was visiting the mainland for the first time, was impressed with what he had found in Pingtan.

"All the people seem very kind and friendly here," said Zhan. "Many locals greeted us with politeness during the tour."

Liu Bing, another Taiwan cyclist, was greatly impressed by Pingtan's natural and cultural landscapes, especially the old stone houses lining many of the city's roads.

"These houses are wonderful and need to be well preserved," said Liu.

Wang Zongyou, a 74-year-old cyclist who has cycled around Taiwan Island 25 times, felt very excited about his first tour of Pingtan. He said the 150-kilometer route had been a challenge for him, but he had really enjoyed it.
