The singing stones of Pingtan took center stage in Fuzhou on Jan 18, at the 2017 Spring Festival Gala for Overseas Chinese.

The percussive rhythms of "Moligaoshanqing", a ballad of beats created all from hitting the igneous rocks collected from Pingtan's Junshan Mountain which towers over the nearby Beigang Village.

"The melody blends two famous songs, Jasmine Flower and Kao Shan Ching from the mainland and Taiwan," said Lin Jhihyuan, the program's producer, a Taiwan resident who's started a business in Pingtan.

Lin and his wife Xu Lingsi were inspired by the beautiful melodies created by the locals hitting rocks collected from the mountain near Beigang village in Pingtan. The couple built an art community named Singing Stones in the village, which features homestay hotels, creative arts, and catering.

Singing Stones was created as a creative cultural communication platform for cross-Straits artists. A lot of Taiwan artists visits in order to get inspired and many mainland visitors also come to experience the exquisite Taiwan creative culture.

With the help of the couple, Beigang village, positioned as a cross-Straits creative culture village, has already become a business incubator and a practice base for the Taiwan Innovation Park.
