Chinese online news website Ptnet is offering free yacht cruises to promote the first session of the Pingtan Regatta and garner interest in sailing among residents.

Yacht cruises are scheduled to take place on Sept 20 at a local yacht club Jiangnan Jiating, which will be hosting the Regatta.

To secure one of 100 cruise tickets up for grabs, interested parties can leave their names and contact information on the WeChat account "zgpt-gov". Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

The regatta is organized by the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone and will gather top sailors from around the world. The city's water resources and comprehensive sports facilities make it an ideal host of such events.

Pingtan recently hosted kite surfing and swimming events, with the aim to attract more visitors to the island city in east China and to improve cross-Straits relations.
