Authorities in Pingtan have announced a subsidy package for elimination of “yellow label cars”, or heavy-polluting vehicles, according to ptnet.cn.

The island county in eastern Fujian set a goal of removing 38 YLCs by the end of Nov. Among them, 13 YLCs have reached the disposable standard, meaning they may be taken off the streets without compensation.

The subsidy package is for the remaining vehicles including 20 light trucks and 5 heavy ones.

The policy is that until the end of Nov, an owner of a light truck who agrees to abandon his vehicle will get 15,300 yuan as compensation, while a heavy truck owner will receive 32,800 yuan.
