A delegation comprised of some 30 entrepreneurs and manufacturers from Changhua county in Taiwan visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province on March 15 to investigate its development and business climate.

The inspection was organized by a local commerce and investment promotion association in Changhua. The business of the visiting entrepreneurs ranges from textile to cosmetics, food and agriculture.

Most of the guests were visiting Pingtan for the first time, lured by its increasing preferential policies for investors across the Taiwan Straits.

They spent a big chunk of time at a duty-free Taiwan Commodity Market to learn about its prospects. Some members suggested that they can open a “Changhua Venue” at the market to collectively display their products.

Ye Zhengquan, general manager of Mic’s Food Co, a company with a 50-year history in snack food production, said he hoped to bring Changhua’s specialties to Pingtan for the convenience of local residents.

The company owned by Liu Wenying is engaged in production of highly-concentrated oxygenated water. “My company has opened a branch factory in Xiamen city. And I’ll see if there is any possibility for another one in Pingtan,” he said.

Liang Zhijie, an official with the Changhua commerce and investment promotion association, commented: “Changhua is the largest county and an agriculture powerhouse in Taiwan. Our entrepreneurs are happy to have their business settled at the market, which is a perfect platform for cross-Straits economic and trade exchange.”
