On April 11, the Pingnan Association for the Study of Gan Guobao Culture convened to discuss research and protection of the cultural inheritance left by the famous Qing Dynasty general, who was a Pingnan native.

The County CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) Chairman Zhou Fenfang, the Deputy Director of the County People’s Congress Chen Zhangping, and the retired County CPPCC Vice-chairman Zheng Daoju all weighed in with their suggestions, along with other senior scholars in the field.

Gan Guobao (1709-1776) is revered by people across the Taiwan Strait for his great contribution to Taiwan’s defense and development during his military tour on the island. Gan Guobao culture, which was deeply rooted in the land of Pingnan, plays an important role in historical literacy, cultural continuation and patriotic awareness for the locals, especially for the young.

During the session, Zhou Fenfang distributed the literature collection the Study of Gan Guobao Culture to the representatives of the county’s library, schools, archive and cultural center.
