Singapore's Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Manpower Sam Tan Chin Siong unveiled exhibitions on artworks by Wu Guanzhong and Chua Ek Kay at National Gallery Singapore on Wednesday evening.

The newly opened National Gallery Singapore has set up a Wu Guanzhong Gallery, a permanent exhibition, for the towering figure in the world of Chinese art, which is dedicated to the life and work of Wu.

Many of the art pieces by Wu are on public display for the first time in Singapore, including a sculpture of the artist himself, and Wu's famous "Twin Swallows" painting, a beautiful blend of Eastern and Western techniques that is reflective of Wu's pioneering methods in synthesizing Chinese and European art traditions, according to Eugene Tan, director of National Gallery Singapore.

This is also the first time that a retrospective exhibition on artworks of Singaporean artist Chua Ey Kay has been organized by a national museum in Singapore.
