Next came the Soup which has long been a hallmark of a good Chinese meal and you just can’t cheat when creating a good one. I was treated to three such pots of goodness, Stewed Fish Maw en casserole, Nourish Oxtail soup (good for men apparently) and the definite winner of the night, Stone Potted nourish Deer Meat, a meaty rich soup with layers of flavors that will have you politely asking for more.

Chinese food is best shared in large groups, Houhai No.16 provides the perfect private space and high quality food with a difference at a reasonable price. That is unless get thirsty and go for the special state guest house Diaoyutai alcohol! Just one bottle will set you back 1000RMB.
