The flow of traffic into Yushu is still under pressure five days after the 7.1 quake jolted the area.

As relief materials continue to arrive in this small plateau town which has a mere population of around 100,000, the traffic faces increasing pressure from scores of media trying to get to devastated region.

At present, the main roads in the downtown area are blocked by fleets of trucks carrying relief materials and waiting to unload.

The military said Sunday that more vehicles will be dispatched to transfer materials to the quake zone, which could bring greater pressure to the traffic situation if no efficient measures of dispersion are adopted.

The road from Xining, capital of Qinghai, to Yushu appears clear for transportation. And It is also understood that the Xining government has taken measures to control the flow of traffic on the road into Yushu to ensure rescue works can be carried out unimpeded.
