Guangzhou on high alert as Typhoon Nida causes traffic chaos

Zhou Yawei, vice-mayor of Guangzhou, has ordered all the construction sites to stop work while schools have been asked to suspend class to ensure safety of workers and students.

Zhou urged relevant department is his city to do what they can to protect people's lives and properties.

"Relevant departments should make a thorough inspection of the city's construction sites and venues to remove the hidden dangers before Nida makes a landfall," Zhou said.
