A 50-year-old man who has mental health problem was sentenced to seven years in jail on Tuesday in Guangdong province after he forcibly detained two homeless women in his home and forced them have sex with him, during which time one of them died, according to Nanfang Daily.
Zhang Yin, who failed to marry due to his mental problems, brought a homeless pregnant woman to his home in Wengyuan county in 2010. He fed the woman with food he begged for or scavenged from the streets and had sex with her for months. After the woman gave birth in April 2010, Zhang gave the baby girl to his younger brother.
Zhang brought a second homeless woman home in early 2013 and also forced her to have sex. The woman, who had heart disease, later died.
Wengyuan County People’s Court said Zhang committed the crimes of rape and illegal detention and his actions also constituted the crime of death by negligence.
Zhang’s punishment was reduced because of his mental disorder, the court said in its verdict.
