Beijing's anti-graft agency said it has punished 16 officials for violating the rules on clean governance.

The officials, 11 section-level and five department-level, were found breaking the "eight-point code" by misbehaviors including spending public funds for overseas vacations, gambling and a lavish wedding celebration, according to the Beijing Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.

The officials were punished by warning, serious warning, or even dismissal from their posts, said the commission.

The "eight-point code", issued by the Party's Central Committee late last year, requires officials to lead a modest lifestyle and have closer relations with the public.
