Domestic movies are expected to take up 50 to 60 percent of the market share in China this year, said Wang Changtian, president of Beijing Enlight Media Co Ltd, a leading private entertainment and media company, at the International Film Industry Development Proseminar on Tuesday.
"The momentum will keep going in the next year, because there are not very strong Hollywood movies in 2014," Wang said.
"But in 2015, Chinese movies will face a great deal of pressure from Hollywood, as they have very powerful and strong productions," he added.
In the first three quarters of this year, homemade films had a market share of 58 percent in terms of box office revenue, with its earnings reaching 9.56 billion yuan ($1.56 billion), up 94 percent year-on-year.
The movie market generated total ticket sales of 16.42 billion yuan in the first nine months of the year, according to the film bureau.
