Three defendants in a gang rape case involving the teenage son of famous military singers have been forgiven by the victim who agreed to compensation, Beijing Evening News reported, quoting a lawyer.

Li Tianyi, the 17-year-old son of prominent PLA singer Li Shuangjiang, is charged with taking part in the gang rape of a woman, along with four others, on Feb 20.

The trial concluded in August with the verdict yet to be delivered.

Zhao Yunheng, a lawyer for one of the defendants, surnamed Zhang, told Beijing Evening News that three defendants pleaded guilty at the trial late last month.

However, Li's mother Meng Ge denied this after the trial and said they only apologized to the victim in different ways, according to media reports.

"The boys didn't plead guilty. None of them said 'I'm guilty'", Meng said.

Zhao said they didn't say "I'm guilty", but they agreed with the charge and confessed their corpus delicti truthfully.

After the trial, the lawyers of the three defendants, Zhao included, expressed sincere apologies and a willingness to compensate the victim with the help of the court, according to Zhao.

Each of the three defendants then gave compensation of 150,000 yuan after consultation and were forgiven by the victim, Zhao said.
