The Second Africa-China Young Leaders Forum opened in Beijing Monday with Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), calling on young leaders in Africa and China to take their responsibilities in the development of both countries.

The forum brings together over 100 young leaders from 38 African countries and nearly 100 people from different sectors in China, including government officials, academics, representatives of public institutions and business leaders. People exchange views on a broad scope of topics on covering Africa-China relations.

Jia offered three suggestions during the opening ceremony of the forum.

First, young leaders from both Africa and China should carry on the traditional friendship of strategic importance. Young people should learn more about the Africa-China friendship and contribute to its development based on sincerity, equality, mutual respect and support.

Second, young leaders should be innovative and open-minded in the development of the Africa-China operation and make themselves grow stronger in the process.

Third, young people should make their efforts to aid world peace and justice, promote the South-South cooperation, and uphold the legitimate rights and interests of the developing world.

Jia said the forum was a good way to understand each other and Africa-China ties had a profound global influence.

Young leaders from African countries held a consensus that China's success will not pose a threat to any other country in the world, but offer greater chances for all. The young people’s exchange played an important role in the Africa-China relationships.

The China-Africa partnership, manifested in the Forum for China-Africa Co-operation (FOCAC) provides the framework and inspiration for a strategic alliance which is contributing to the transformation of the global system.

China and Africa share a broad vision of system change which will better promote development of the global South and a more equitable international order.

At a global level, a joint effort to reshape globalization and international economic institutions can advance the interests of both Africa and China.
