China Enterprises Index rises 6.41 pct on Feb. 1

HONG KONG -- Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 799.67 points, or 6.41 percent, to close Friday's trading at 13,284.74.

The H-shares index, initiated in August 1994 and readjusted on September 10, 2007, tracks the overall performance of 43 Chinese mainland state-owned enterprises listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Hang Seng China H-Financials Index went up 945.72 points, or 6. 71 percent, to close at 15,040.48.

The H-Financials Index, initiated on November 27, 2006, readjusted on September 10, 2007, tracks the performance of nine major banks and insurers of the Chinese mainland.

Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index went up 217.22 points, or 5. 19 percent, to close at 4,401.12.

Introduced on October 3, 2001 and readjusted on September 11, 2006, Hang Seng Mainland Composite Index gauges the performance of 103 Hong Kong-listed companies with principal places of business in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.

Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index went up 216.53 points, or 4.25 percent, to close at 5,308.33.

The index tracks the performance of 31 locally listed companies with a significant equity interest held by entities in the Chinese mainland.
