Zhou said she was planning to buy an apartment when her initial investment turned into 210,000 yuan by April 2007. However, she put all her money back to buy stocks when the market suffered a five-day loss, thinking of earning some more for housing decorations.

According to Zhou, that was when her "confidant" changed. The shrink of her investment to 100,000 yuan made her pull off the purchase plan. Zhou and her husband finally bought an apartment on mortgage in 2013.
